Driver John Leslie Bowman Memorial Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This memorial is a rectangular shaped metal plaque attached to the bottom edge of the Leadville First and Second World Wars Honour Roll located in the Leadville Memorial Hall. It was presented by Mr and Mrs Leslie Bowman and their daughters in memory of their son and brother, Driver John Leslie Bowman, Australian Army Service Corps (AASC) who was killed in action at Singapore on 12 February 1942. John Bowman was a resident of Leadville before the war when he enlisted on 11 July 1940. He was serving as a driver with the 1st Company of the AASC when he lost his life in Singapore. He is also listed on the Second World War Honour Roll at Dunedoo, NSW. The plaque was dedicated on Anzac Day in 1953 along with two other metal plaques. These plaques are dedicated to Flight Lieutenant Barrington Armitage Knyvett who was killed on 2nd January 1944 and Private Adolphus Felix Abbott who was killed on 3 December 1944.
