Description / Background

This war memorial park is dedicated in honour of those who served with the 13th Battery 5th Field Artillery Brigade AIF in the First World War. A brass dedication plaque is located beside the walking track along the Murray River.

Clarification on the plaque, provided by the Albury & District Historical Society Inc.:

Please note, the wording on the plaque is incorrect. Prior to the war, the Albury Battery was the 17th Battery Australian Field Artillery (AFA), a unit of the Commonwealth Military Force (militia). At the outbreak of the war, the Battery volunteered en masse for the Australian Imperial Force and became the 13th Battery AIF.
