Description / Background

Rowan Robinson Park is named after Sapper Rowan Robinson, who was killed in Afghanistan on 6 June 2011. It is a new park, located on the central foreshore at Kingscliff. It was made and desgined by Tweed Shire Council, and forms part of a $22 million foreshore project.

In November 2017, the council called for names for the park and a number of community members suggested Robinson. The Kingscliff sub-Branch of the Returned and Services League supported the name and prepared a plaque for installation in the park.

Positioned to one side of the Kingscliff War Memorial, is an information panel detailing Robinson's early life, his military service and the circumstances surrounding his death in Afghanistan. It also includes two colour portraits.
