Description / Background

St Barnabas Anglican Church in Wardell, NSW, was built in honour of those who served in the First World War. It is of brick construction, with a striking high gabled roof, covered with corrugated metal sheets. It demonstrates features typical of rural English design, including a covered entrance alcove, with decorative timber sides.

The foundation stone of the church was laid by the Right Reverend Cecil Henry Druitt on 20 August 1919. It was dedicated the following year on 11 November by Archdeacon Tress.
