Description / Background

This large timber honour roll is dedicated to the young men from the former Tamworth Presbyterian Hostel who served in the Second World War. It has classical features comparable with other rolls. Once associated with the Tamworth Presbyterian Church, it is now located within Dunn Hall, part of the Tamworth City Uniting Church complex.

The Presbyterian Church established a number of boarding hostels that provided accommodation for boys throughout NSW so that they could attend local high schools. Hostels were established at Dubbo, Wagga Wagga, Parkes, Glen Innes and Stanmore. In time, they closed with the advent of boarding schools being established in country areas, as well as boarding hostels being established by the NSW Department of Education.
