Description / Background

The Tenterfield Methodist Church First and Second World Wars Roll of Honour is a simply designed timber board, set within a timber frame. It lists the names of 72 members of the church community who had enlisted for service. Their names are printed neatly in gold across three columns. Those who made the supreme sacrifice are marked with a cross.

The memorial was unveiled on 20 March 1949 by Lieutenant-Colonel, the Hon M. F. Bruxner, D.S.O., M.L.A. In its article about the ceremony, published on 24 March, the Tenterfield Star reported the original First World War roll had been destroyed by fire when an earlier church burnt down. The paper also listed the names of all those who had served.

The roll is located in the former Tenterfield Uniting Church. It hangs in the northern vestibule of the entrance porch. The church was formed in 1977 but closed in September 2012. Regular services are no longer held on site, and as such, the memorial is not accessible to the public.
