Description / Background

The memorial is a white marble honour roll, with a curved top edge. The top is decorated with a scroll pattern and floral carvings. The inscription and names are incised into the marble and blackened.

According to the Northern Star (Lismore), 14 July 1919, the roll was created by Mr H. Edwards of Lismore and originally had "the figure of a soldier with rifle on guard" on each side. The article also states the roll had been unveiled at the school recently. However, an article on 14 August in the same newspaper describes Mrs C.T. Lumley unveiling the roll at a school picnic on or around Wednesday 6 August.

Planning for the memorial had begun earlier in 1919. Attendees at a meeting at the school in February decided to investigate the cost of a marble monument before considering a timber version. On 7 February the Northern Star reported on the meeting, stating:

There is a considerable sum of money to hand, and a social will be held in the Victoria Hall on February 14th in aid of the fund.

Access to the memorial is restricted as it is inside the school.
