Description / Background

The hall is a typically designed rural community hall with a high gabled roof. On the eastern side is an enclosed verandah used during social functions.

The hall was built by the Woolomin and Duncan's Creek community and was opened by Mr W.A. Chaffey, M.L.A. in 1955. The hall houses an honour roll for the First and Second World Wars.

History

The first hall was erected on the property of Mr and Mrs Gardiner in 1900. In 1915 the hall ceased when Mr Gardiner needed the hall for a hay shed.

The next hall was another hay shed belonging to Mr Prisk. It was officially opened on 19 May 1932. This hall was used to farewell local soldiers during the Second World War. Once again it was reverted to a hay shed.

The residents of Duncan's Creek and Woolomin met on 2 March 1946 to discuss building a war memorial hall. The floor from the last hall had been stored and money was raised by the local community through various social functions. With additional funds from a bank loan, the hall was built by November 1954.

Floods in February 1955 moved the hall to the site next door, where it was repaired by the community. On 25 November 1955 the hall was officially opened by Mr W.A. Chaffey, M.L.A.
