Wesley Rainsford Hand was born in Christchurch, New Zealand and enlisted as a single motor driver aged 32 years on 18 May 1916. As a private in the 56th Battalion, he died of wounds on 2 September 1918 and was buried in the Fouquescourt British Cemetery, France.
