Veteran Notes/Bio

Benjamin John Ayres, also William James Ayres, emigrated to Australia in June 1927 with his brother Frederick Charles Ayres from the Southern Police Orphanage, Redhill, Surrey, England. He was born in 1909, though his nominal roll records him as being born in 1911. He was either accidentally killed or killed in action in Malaya during the Second World War. He is interred in the Kranji War Cemetery in Singapore.

His brother Frederick Ayres drowned when his farm flooded on 24 June 1950 in Ulmarra, Cowper, NSW.
