Ronald Everingham was one of three Everingham brothers of the Auburn Methodist Church. Age 22, he enlisted on 21 August 1916 at the RAS Showground Moore Park. He nominated his mother at 30 Chestnut Road, Auburn, as his next of kin. He sailed on the Benalla on 9 November 1916, reaching Devonport on 9 January 1917. He crossed to France two months later, joining the 3rd Division Pioneers. Ronald was invalided to Exeter Hospital in the United Kingdom on 25 August 1918 and he left England on the Karoa on 28 March 1919.
