The memorial is a freestone pillar on ironstone steps, surmounted by a statue of a First World War Australian infantryman made from white carrara marble by A. Casagrande. His bayonet has been broken off the rifle, as has the bottom of the scabbard. The forefinger and thumb on the left hand are also missing. The memorial is surrounded by a low metal chain fence with ornate iron posts and a metal flagpole stands to the north side.
