Description / Background

The Brungle Memorial Hall was established in honour of those who served in the First World War. It was opened on 26 March 1935. Inside the hall is a polished timber honour roll for the Second World War, with names in gold lettering. The roll was unveiled on 26 April 1947.

A set of memorial gates is located outside the hall, at the front driveway. The gates consist of several brick pillars, which support wrought-iron gates. A brick and wrought-iron panel fence accompanies the gates. The gates were unveiled on 20 August 1949. Inset into the pillars are two white marble memorial plaques. They are dedicated to Private Ronald Gordon Hartshorn and Private Leo Malone, two soldiers who fell during the Second World War. Please note, Private Hartshorn's surname is misspelt on his plaque. Both veterans are also inscribed on the timber honour roll.
