The Cloke family decided to honour their son, W. F. Cloke, by dedicating this honour board to his memory. The honour board memorialises their son and other local soldiers.

The board was unveiled at Liverpool Town Hall on 6 July 1918. It is now on permanent display at Liverpool City Library.
