Description / Background

This collection of memorials is located in a fenced garden, at the northern end of the towm. At the entrance to the garden are two gate posts, labelled 1914 and 1919.  Inside the garden is an obelisk with plaques of stone and brass affixed. It was established in honour of those who served in the First World War and was unveiled on 24 May 1923. More recently two small granite memorials have been added to the east of the obelisk, bearing memorial plaques for conflicts in which Australia has been involved. Rose bushes around the perimeter of the garden have plaques commemorating individuals, and on the right gate post is an unveiling plaque for these plantings.
