Description / Background

This memorial is an elaborate rotunda which is kept secure by metal grills in the doorways and window areas. In the centre of the rotunda is an octagonal shaped plinth bearing several honour roll plaques with the names of those who served. The plinth is surmounted by a lamp. The rotunda is surrounded by a garden with hedges, pine trees and rosemary bushes.

The Five Dock War Memorial

The Foundation stone of which was laid on January 28, 1923 was rededicated on September 12, 1987 by The Drummoyne Ministers Fraternal after refurbishment by Drummoyne Municipal Council Peter Fitzgerald Mayor

Erected by the citizens in memory of the men of the district who fell

On the internal walls

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old

Age shall now weary them nor the years condem
