Description / Background

Brick memorial gates located at the entrance to Forest Hill Public School. On the left-hand side gate pillar is an honour roll for the First World War. It is rectangular, with a triangular top featuring a Rising Sun badge and narrow shelf. The roll is made of white marble affixed to a larger slab of darker marble. The list contains 24 names, and the lettering was retouched around 2004. Two small flags, one British and one Australian, are on each side of the dedication. On the right-hand side pillar is a granite plaque inlaid into the brick, with the Rising Sun badge and dedication for the Second World War in gold lettering.
