Description / Background

The Hill Top War Memorial Hall is of timber construction with an iron roof. It was opened on 30 August 1947 in honour of those who served in the Second World War.

Outside the hall is a curved brick memorial wall that was a later addition. Inscribed at the centre of the wall on a light-coloured block of sandstone are the words 'Lest we forget.' A cross of the same stone is inset on the wall. Thirty one plaques representing the different services and conflicts are attached to the wall, including brass insignias of the Australian Commonwealth Military Forces. In front of the wall is a paved area with a relief map of Australia in the centre. The word 'ANZAC' is inscribed across the map. At the side of the paving is a flagstaff, at the base of which are four bronze plaques. The whole memorial is partly enclosed by low rosemary hedges. The wall was dedicated on 13 February 2000, with a Guard from HMAS Creswell in attendance.
