Description / Background

The cenotaph is a brick wall with a tiled base and is in the shape of a 'V' with a flattened point. On the inside wall at the centre is a brass 'Rising Sun' plaque, with plaques to commemorate the 50th annivesary of the Second World War and the Army below. On either side of these are brass plaques to commemorate all those who have served in armed conflict and those who paid the supreme sacrifice. On the insides of the other two walls are brass plaques for the Navy and Air Force. There is also a flagpole behind the cenotaph.
