A low circular brick wall with two rows of plaques around the inside of the wall and a large number of concrete plinths in the rose gardens. There is a low monument with a shiny black tablet. There are about 52 plaques dedicated to units that severed during the Second World War and approximately 365 plaques to individual service personnel. The memorial is located at the beginning of the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway, opposite Concord Hospital.
This Memorial Rose Garden marks the start of the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway. The Walkway commemorates the herouiean efforts in the 1942 -1943 Papuan campaign of the Australians, who with the support of the Papuans (''Fuzzy Wuzzies'') kept Australia secure from invasion. Here we honour the compassionate care provided by the Medical Corps and Nursing Services to the casualties of all areas of conflict.
