Description / Background

This war memorial is a simple bronze plaque, mounted on a wall in the foyer of the Ku-ring-gai Council Chambers. It is dedicated to members of the Royal Australian Air Force (R.A.A.F.) who served in the Second World War, particularly those who fell during the war.

Accompanying the memorial are five more bronze plaques. Four are the emblems of the R.A.A.F., the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Military Forces, and the Royal NSW Regiment. The fifth commemorates the 'Freedom of Entry' granted by Ku-ring-gai Municipality to the 17th Battalion Royal NSW Regiment on 17 September 1978.

Also located in the foyer is the Ku-ring-gai Second World War Book of Remembrance.
