Lithgow Ex-POW Memorial Tower Middle Image Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background A tall red-brick tower with enclosed light atop, mounted on a brick and concrete plinth set in the centre of a large ashphalt area at the end of a drive in Crest Park, leading up from the road. An inscribed and polished red-granite plaque is set into the tower. At the entrance to the road is a brick wall identifying the creators of the memorial. The memorial is located on the eastern edge of Lithgow overlooking the town. Inscription Tower - large plaque To perpetuate the heroism and deeds of the A.I.F. doctors and nurses during the imprisonment by the Nipponese 1942-1945. Singapore, Malaya, Borneo, Thailand, Burma, Amboina, Nippon, Java. Erected by Lithgow Ex-P.O.W. Club. Tower - small plaque NX20467 L/Cpl Phillip James Bailey 2/30th Battalion. Died 1989.
