Description / Background

The memorial consists of several elements. In the centre, there is a grey-stone monument with a plaque and two marble tablets attached dedicated to the National Servicemen. It was established in 2002. Several years later, two red-brick walls were added, one on either side of the monument, set at an angle. The walls have a dedication plaque and multiple smaller plaques with the details of deceased ex-servicemen from various conflicts. These were unveiled on 10 February 2008.

The ground surrounding the memorial is paved with white stones with a black stone cross in the centre. A flagpole and Gallipoli Lone Pine complete this memorial precinct within the grounds of the Macquarie Barracks, Taree.
