Blacksmiths 1914-1919 Honour Roll, Railway Remembrance Wall, Central Station

Description

 

Part of the Railway Remembrance Wall, this is a light coloured polished wooden board with veterans' names and inscription in gilt. The whole board is enclosed in a glass-fronted wooden case. The memorial is located near platform 23.

Additional information by Sydney Trains:

A carved wooden honour roll board, with 58 Locoworks Blacksmithshop railways employees names who served in the First World War written in gilt, encased behind glass panes. It was produced by NSW Railways Eveleigh blacksmith staff, and was relocated after the closure of the blacksmiths workshop in 1988, and fixed to the western Railway Remembrance Wall at Central Station. Note all the names are also listed on the Eveleigh Locoworks consolidated Honour Roll WWI.
