Description / Background

 

Part of the Railway Remembrance Wall. A light-coloured, polished wooden board decorated at the top with a crown, the Union Jack and the Australian flag, a laurel wreath, two waratahs and the words "Lest we forget". Names are in white against a darker background behind glass panes. The memorial is located near platform 23. 

Additional information by Sydney Trains:

A very large polished wooden Honour Roll board, with 364 Eveleigh Locoworks railways employees names who served in the Second World War and Korea written in white in nine columns, and behind three glass panes. It was decorated with a crown and Union Jack and Australian flags, a laurel wreath and two waratahs and the words 'Lest we forget' above. It was produced by Eveleigh Locoworks staff and unveiled by Works Manager J. Bannister at Eveleigh on 26 July 1960. It was relocated after its closure in 1989 and fixed to the eastern Railway Remembrance Wall at Central Station.
