Description / Background

The memorial is a large, white-stone rotunda, with First World War roll of honour tablets inset into the base. It is located in Victoria Park in St Marys, NSW and is surrounded by a fence. The foundation stone for the rotunda was laid on 25 February 1922 and the memorial was unveiled on 28 October the same year. A small plaque has also been attached to honour Second World War, Korea and Vietnam veterans.

  • No record of deceased veterans with the following names can be found from this area: W J Dolan, W Fenning, J Gardener, C Hale, L Phillips. The status of these veterans has been given as killed in action (KIA), as that is what is indicated on the memorial.
  • All other status codes are taken from information in the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour and the National Archives of Australia.
  • On the memorial, C Mallard may be given as G Mallard and Tingcombe may be given as Tinccombe.
