Stockton War Memorial


Sandstone plinth with granite name plates, surmounted by a statue of an Australian Soldier, complete with rifle - the whole resting upon a set of sandstone steps.



'LEST WE FORGET' 1914 - 1918 'This monument was erected in memory of the gallant men who enlisted from Stockton and served their country in the Great War (1914 - 1919) for the honour and integrity of Australia and the British Empire and in the defense of freedom.' This memorial was unveiled by Lt Col C R Short VD on ANZAC Day 25th April, 1922 T Griffiths [Pres]. J J Williams [Tres] Mrs J Fairless C C Cody (Hon Secs) Separate sections read: 'Killed or died on active service' [and] 'In memory of those who gave their lives in World War II'
