2020 marks 75 years since the end of the Second World War. To commemorate this important year, the NSW Government interviewed WWII veterans about their experiences. Read our 75th Anniversary Stories.
The Urangeline Peace Hall was erected by people of the district in 1919 and opened on 3 March 1920. It was the first peace hall opened in Australia. It was constructed of local Cyprus pine with a corrugated galvanised iron roof, and the exterior is painted green. It measures 65 feet long by 30 feet wide, with a stage at one end. Later two rooms were added on the north side. Hanging inside the hall are two timber honour rolls for the First and Second World Wars. The roll of the First World War was unveiled on 22 July 1921.
The hall is located on Western Road, between Whittys and Hamsons Lanes.
