Description / Background

This is the second marble honour roll to be erected by St Stephen's Presbyterian Church, Warialda. It was unveiled on 25 November 1923 with the names of eleven soldiers of the church who had fallen in the First World War. The earlier roll was dedicated in 1918. At the dedication service for the second roll, the Reverend P. A. Smith stated it was the intention of the church to list the names in this way for the earlier memorial, but for various reasons there was a delay in establishing it. The service was conducted by Reverend Smith and Mrs D. Mackay of 'Gunyerwarildi Station' unveiled the roll. The Reverend thanked Mr D. Mackay and relatives of the deceased soldiers who had provided the roll.

Note on veteran's name: John Patrick Stuart did return to Australia.
