Woolgoolga War Memorial

Description

Stone of remembrance and symbolic flame, with ADF service badges and the names of WW1 and WW2 dead and those who served in WW1 engraved in original marble (1922), set in water feature with fountains. This memorial was erected in 2001 to replace the original sandstone memorial erected in Woolgoolga in 1922, which had deteriorated and was regarded as unsafe (the marble tablets on the present memorial came from this structure). The original sandstone blocks and columns have recently been found and consideration is being given to restoration of the 1922 memorial as part of a consolidated Woolgoolga Memorial Garden surrounding the Vietnam Memorial, an Iroquois UH1 helicopter
