Description / Background

The Bowning War Memorial is a brick wall that has been rendered and painted a dusky red. It is raised on one step, made using the same materials and method. Attached to the right-hand side of the front face of the wall are three bronze emblems, for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, and Royal Australian Air Force. On the left is the dedication to service, is raised brass letters. Standing directly behind the wall is a flagpole. 

The memorial was made/designed by local volunteers, who had returned from active service. It was built in 2015, behind the Bowning Community Hall. Initial support came from the Bowning & District Lions Club, and subsequently from the Bowning Progress Association and Bowning Hall Committee. The memorial was dedicated at the Anzac Day dawn service on 25 April 2015.
