Cootamundra Methodist War Memorial Youth Hall Middle Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This memorial is a red brick and tiled building located adjacent to the former Cootamundra Methodist Church (now the Baptist Church) which was designed to serve as a Youth Hall. There is a small plaque located inside the hall stating that the hall was erected in memory of all those who served in the Second World War and a granite foundation stone set into the front wall of the hall detailing its placement in 1954. The Foundation Stone was laid on Saturday 30th October 1954 by Reverend J. H. Sorrell, MM, ED. The Cootamundra Herald reported that the guests at the ceremony included the Deputy Mayor (Alderman F.R. Dickson), President of the Jindalee Shire (Councillor A.S. Donaldson), the President of the R.S.L. (Mr J. Croker), the president of the Ex-Servicemen's Association (Mr S. Forsyth) and the architect (Mr. E.B. Mowbray). A plaque was presented at the ceremony for the work of Mr F. Lloyd Holmes, who had served as trust secretary for thirty-two years. The plaque was to be attached to the desk at the official opening of the Youth Hall.
