This former library building is now used as a meeting room and site of school assemblies. The school's current library is located in a separate building. Some 100 citizens of the Geurie district assembled at the Geurie Public School on Saturday 13 June 1953 to witness the unveiling of a plaque presented by the RSL. The chairman Reverend H. Daly, President of the P and C Association, dedicated the library as a memorial to the men and women of the services, whilst the Geurie RSL donated the dedication plaque. Mr A. B. Thompson unveiled the plaque which was draped with flags. In his speech he commended the Geurie P and C Association on their choice of memorial and added a copy of the books Proud Echo and Happy and Glorious to the library collection. During the function, a tape recorder and film strip projector were presented to the school through Mr Armstrong, the District Inspector of Schools. Mr Armstrong was quoted in the Dubbo Liberal as saying : 'I congratulate the Geurie P and C. on its choice of a memorial, as I cannot conceive anything more finer than putting before children, the written thoughts of famous writers, the recorder to assist the ear and the projector to impress the vision'.
