Description / Background

The honour roll is a white marble tablet in the shape of a shield. The dedication and names are incised in the middle of the shield and blackened. The tablet is attached to a dark timber board.

In his book Walcha and Its Schooling, 150 Years, Bob Walsh states the tablet was placed in the Glen Morrison Hall in February 1921. It was unveiled by Mrs Elizabeth Kitcher, who lost three sons in the Great War.

The roll was moved to the Walcha Ex-Services Club when the hall was sold to the Historical Society in 1973. Access to the memorial is restricted to the opening hours of the club.

The Glen Morrison locality is 25 kilometres from Walcha, and gold rushes developed in the district from the 1870s.
