Description / Background

The Legacy Remembers Memorial Fountain commemorates those who have been killed in action in wars in which Australia has been involved and the families left behind. The memorial consists of a wall with a small fountain attached, which drains into a historic horse trough that is used to collect donations. The donations are used by Legacy to support the families of veterans of all wars. Also attached to the wall are plaques that describe the role of Legacy in helping the families of those who have died serving the nation in war.

The Fountain was constructed by the Rocks Redevelopment Authority in 1981. It is owned and maintained by Place Making NSW and is listed on a government register of significant heritage sites.
