Description / Background

The memorial is a timber bench seat located in a garden setting at the base of the Nimbin War Memorial. The seat was built by Adrian Williamson and donated by the Nimbin community. It is designed with space to add names plates to commemorate deceased service men and women associated with the area.

The seat was dedicated and blessed on 16 March 2013 at a service conducted by Pastor Jim Gallagher, with the Lismore Deputy Mayor, Simon Clough, also in attendance (The Nimbin Good Times, March 2013).

Remembrance Day services are held on Armistice Day each year. The name plaque for Captain Bevan Patrick Turner was dedicated at the Remembrance Day service on 11 November 2018. A name plaque for F T Payne was dedicated on 11 November 2019. At the time of writing (July 2023), there are three name plates.
