Description / Background

The Sailors and Soldiers of Clovelly Great War Honour Roll is large, white-marble memorial, inscribed with the names of members of St Luke's Sailors and Soldiers Memorial Church who served in the war.

The roll consists of three panels, each with a Gothic-shaped top edge. The central panel is taller and wider than the two wing panels. The names are inscribed across all three panels and highlighted in black. The list also gives the rank of some veterans, if they received decorations, or were killed in action or died of wounds or illness.

The roll was unveiled on Anzac Day, 25 April 1924 by Major General Sir Charles Rosenthal. The ceremony included a commemorative service led by Chaplain Major A.J.B. King.

The memorial is mounted on the west wall of the nave inside the church, now known as St Luke's Anglican Church.
