Description / Background

The Somerton War Memorial Hall is mainly of timber construction. It features an Art Deco style brick facade at the front of the building, which faces Scotland Road. Six concrete steps lead to an alcove where the front door is located. Rosemary bushes flank the lower steps, as a symbol of remembrance. Above the alcove is the name of hall, attached in metal letters. Four windows are set into the brickwork, positioned around the alcove. A flagpole is also attached to the top of the facade.

At the top of the steps, on the left-hand side, is the Somerton War Memorial Hall First World War Honour Roll. It is positioned opposite the matching Somerton War Memorial Hall Second World War Honour Roll. Inside the hall are several other honour rolls.
