It was erected in honour of the men and women from the area who served during the Second World War. A polished brass plaque with a brief inscription and honour roll is attached to a side wall inside the church. The Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative reported that Mudgee citizens would first hear the chimes on Saturday 3 May 1947 to mark the dedication of the Memorial Carillon. A detailed report of the dedication was published in the Mudgee Guardian on 12 May 1947. The Reverend G.E. Howard (Moderator of the Presbytery of Bathurst) presided and conducted the service. The Rev. Alan Dougan of Bathurst (Presbytery Clerk) preached the occasional sermon and dedicated the Carillon. The service included a solo 'There is no Death', the Last Post, an organ recital and an anthem. At the conclusion of the ceremony, chimes and hymns were sounded over the Carillion by Mr Joe Priest. A church tea followed and a concert was held that night.
