Steinbrook First World War Honour Roll

Steinbrook First World War Honour Roll
Description

The memorial is a polished timber honour roll for the First World War. It is a simply designed, rectangular board, with a slight curve at the top. The names and inscription are in decorative gold lettering and are surrounded by thin, gold borders that add visual interest to the piece.

In June 2014, the Steinbrook Progress Association was awarded an Anzac Centenary Local Grant to erect this roll in the Steinbrook Community Hall. The original First World War roll was stolen from the hall, and the grant money was used to replace it.

The hall previously held another memorial for the war, which unfortunately has not survived. A memorial tablet was unveiled by Colonel Bruxner MLA at a dance held on site around October 1923. It featured a photograph of each district men who had enlisted (Tenterfield Star, 25 October 1923).

Access to the memorial is restricted to the opening hours of the hall.
