These plaques are positioned within a caged corner alcove outside the Cootamundra Ex-Servicemen's and Citizens Memorial Club. The memorial also incorporates a raised brick platform overtop of a pool of reflection. The roll of honour plaques are mounted on the wall above the platform and are positioned in between two pairs of carved wooden panels depicting images of soldiers and a brass sculpture of an eternal flame. Brass lettering is included underneath each panel. The brass plaque on the left has "1914-18" whilst the right one has "1939-45" and the eternal flame has "LEST WE FORGET" The brass plaques are inscribed with the names of the men and women from the area who had died as a result of active service during the First and Second World Wars respectively. Part of the cost of the memorial had been contributed by some of the relatives of those veterans who had died. The memorial was officially unveiled during a ceremony held on Friday 3rd July 1953. RSL President J. W. Croker chaired the ceremony and opened by explaining the purpose of the occasion with particular significance made regarding the attendance of relatives of the fallen. He then invited the Governor of New South Wales, Lt General Sir John Northcott, to speak. Lt General Northcott emphasised the debt everyone owed to all those who had paid the supreme sacrifice. He then unveiled the memorial which was followed by a period of silence. Sir John and Miss Northcott were then taken on a tour of the RSL premises.
