William Henry Kibby was born on 15 April 1905 in Winlaton, England. He enlisted on 29 June 1940 at Adelaide, South Australia.
As a Sergeant in the 2/49th Australian Infantry Battalion, he died on 31 October 1942 when he was killed in action in Egypt. He was buried in the El Alamein War Cemetery, Mars Matruh, Egypt. He was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross in 1943.
