Bungarby War Memorial

Description

Tapered granite obelisk with honour roll, mounted upon a concrete base, and surrounded by a white picket fence.

The old hall (now unused) is a history in itself. The memorial was erected post WW1 (date unknown) but it was refurbished when the new Bungarby Fire Shed was completed and re-dedicated on the 24th Apr 1993.

Inscription

In everlasting memory

'Greater love hath no man, than he, who would lay down his life for his friends'

Note 1: Two honour boards are also located within the hall.

Note 2: The Australian War Memorial lists Robert Arthur Sloan of Bungarby as having achieved the rank of Lance Corporal, as well as being awarded a Military Medal.
