Description / Background

During the First World War, the Hawkesbury Agricultural College formed a Comforts Fund for the benefit of students at the front. At the end of the war £300 was left and that money, together with over £200 raised by the Old Boys' Union, was used to fund the building of the Soldiers Memorial Hall. The hall was officially opened by Minister for Agriculture H.V.C. Thorby on 12 December 1928. At the ceremony, two rolls of honour located inside the hall were also unveiled.
