Description / Background

A marble column set on a marble plinth, with the inscription on the front (eastern) face. A sculpture of a Bible lies on top of the column, which is also draped with a shawl. The shawl partly obscures a relief sculpture of a laurel wreath on the front above the inscription, and hangs down over a relief sculpture of rifle on the right hand side.

This monument memorialises two soldiers, one on the eastern side and the other on the southern side. There are also memorial inscriptions on the plinth.
