Description / Background

This memorial consists of a grove of trees, planted in honour of those who served in the Second World War and Korea. Marking the site is a large bushrock, which bears a plaque inscribed with the dedication and the name of the grove's original sponsor, who was responsible for planting and maintenance. The sponsor was Anthony Hordern & Sons Ltd, a former Sydney-based department store.

The memorial forms part of the Berrima Remembrance Grove, located on the Old Hume Highway, near the roundabout intersection with Medway Road and Taylor Avenue, Berrima. There are 11 groves overall, covering some 34 acres. Eight other groves retain their bushrock markers and they are listed separately on the NSW War Memorials Register, under the 'Linked memorials' heading below.

Information for this listing was sourced from the report Berrima Remembrance Groves NSW Inventory by Chris & Charlotte Webb Pty Ltd, dated July 2021. This report was supported by a Community War Memorials Fund grant from the NSW Government.
