Description / Background

A stepped standard base with a granite square pillar. On top of the original memorial was a hand blown globe within metal bands. The current memorial is missing a section of the original memorial.

To the rear of the memorial is a low rectangular yellow sandstone block for the fallen of the Second World War, Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam and other conflicts.

The memorial has been relocated overtime:

  • Original Location – Victory Parade on the hill.
  • Moved to corner of Wharf Street and Brighton Avenue.
  • Current Location – Goffet Park corner of Brighton Avenue, Victory Parade and Wharf Street.

The memorial was erected by the residents of Toronto in honour of the men of this district who served in the Great War. 1914-1919.

Front base:

These were our sons who died for our lands in glory will they sleep and endless sanctity their name liveth for everymore.
