Description / Background

Able Seaman Allan Richard Maunsell was 21 years old when he died on 21 October 1944, as a result of the bombing of HMAS Australia by the Japanese. A memorial chair was gifted to St Paul's Anglican Church in Bankstown in his honour. A plaque is attached to the chair bearing the dedication. Maunsell is one of a number of ex-servicemen who have a war memorial onsite.

received in enemy action on

H.M.A.S. Australia on 21st October, 1944.

and fellow members of the church.
