Description / Background

The Annangrove Park War Memorial consists of a metal flagpole, which is flanked by two sandstone bushrocks. Each bushrock bears an inscribed metal plaque and is accompanied by a rosemary plant. The surrounding area is paved with sandstone flagging, which ties the three elements together and forms a commemorative garden.

To the right of the paved area is a tall pine tree (Pinus brutia), which was planted in 2008 to commemorate the First World War. A smaller sandstone bushrock is positioned at its base, bearing a bronze plaque. The tree has thrived in its surroundings and now encroaches on the rock.

The bushrock on the left of the flagpole was the first to be installed. It was erected in 2005 for the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific Day and the end of the Second World War. The bushrock on the right was installed in 2015 for the Centenary of Anzac. It is dedicated to all Australians who have served during conflict.

Anzac Day and Remembrance Day commemorative services take place in the park. Also on site is the Annangrove Park Vietnam War.
