Description / Background

This First World War honour roll is a pressed bronze panel. It is decorated with a depiction of a soldier wearing a slouch hat, flanked by the Union Jack and Australian flag. In the background are sandbags and standing rifles. The sides of the roll have scroll and leaf patterns. The dedication and names are inscribed on individual plates and attached to the middle of the panel. There is no end year for the war on the roll, which may indicate it was dedicated before 1918.

The memorial was made by the Wunderlich Company of Sydney, known for their stylised metal honour rolls. Their standard design was customisable with the details of the local community or organisation commissioning the memorial.

The roll was once located in the Colonna Public School, which closed in May 1926. It has since moved to the Barraba Historical Museum, also known as the Nandewar Historical Society Museum.
